The highly beneficial building material, Hempcrete, is one of the greatest Uses of Hemp and is sought after by many building experts.
Hempcrete is considered the ideal building material by many professionals, but there are also many who are still unfamiliar with it. Certification as a United States’ national building material in the US building codes could help change that.
The US Hemp Building Foundation has issued a recommendation to the International Code Council that hempcrete be added to the International Residential Codes. It will be reviewed in both March and September 2022. If approved, hempcrete will become a certified natural building material in the country, making it available to everyone.
The benefits of hempcrete are plenty, including being eco-friendly, sustainable, fireproof, insect and pest resistant, thermal and insulating.
