Hemp Politics in Maine show that there is growing support for hemp farming. The state Legislature is working on a bill that will legalise the cultivation of industrial hemp, and communities are are showing their support.

Rep. Deborah Sanderson, R-Chelsea, recognises Maine’s potential to participate in the hemp industry that is slowly emerging throughout the U.S. For farmers it would be a new crop with favourable economic opportunities. So far Colorado, Kentucky and Vermont are the only three states that have legalised industrial hemp. Perhaps Maine will be the fourth.
