The north east region of Scotland has Hemp in the News as farmers in Aberdeenshire and Angus give hemp farming a try, in place of cattle.

Hemp in the News

One might not expect Scotland to be a hot spot for growing hemp, but trials are going well and interest is growing among local farmers. The hemp is grown for a variety of different uses.

The Scottish Hemp Association is hopeful that this years harvest will inspire more farmers to grow hemp next year. There are already signs of an expanding hemp industry in the area, as the number of hemp farms has grown from two to ten in the past year.

David White, a farmer who switched from raising cattle to growing hemp, says, “I’m very pleased with it, happy with the progress and it proves we can actually grow this crop in Scotland.”
