Tuesday marks the beginning of new legislation in Hawaii. 
Amongst the new laws to be implemented is the Farm Bill (SB2175), which will allow the University of Hawaii to grow hemp for research purposes.
The UH will be conducting a two-year project to study uses of hemp such as the effects of using industrial hemp to remove toxins from contaminated soil and as a biofuel.
