The list for Uses of Hemp is continuously growing, and in northern Thailand, a group of young students have invented a hemp surgical mask.
The invention, named “The Mask Sativa”, was inspired by the polluted area in which the school is situated.
The students experimented with cotton, lotus, and hemp fabrics, and hemp was proven to be superior in fibre quality and its ability to filter the air.
In northern Thailand, the Hmong highland people have been cultivating hemp for many years, for use in their burial ceremonies. But these days hemp is being recognised for its industrial uses, and economic potential.
In Thailand, hemp is still classified as a Type 5 narcotic, but there is hope that this will change, as hemp research reveals the many uses of hemp and promises a bright future for the country.
