The State of Kentucky is one of the forerunners to embrace the newly legalised cultivation of hemp. Creating durable textiles is one the greatest Uses of Hemp and Kentucky is planning to do just that.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture and a Californian company, Fibershed, are working together to create textiles that blend hemp with wool and alpaca. Experts in producing textiles will test the various blends to discover the best combination.
They aim to produce Kentucky Cloth that will be of high quality and plan to market the textiles to designers as a one-of-a-kind product.
