Randall Ledford of Unicoi County, Tennessee, started growing this June. Where cows once roamed his fields, a hemp crop is growing strong, thanks to the 2014 Bill that allows farmers to grow industrial hemp.
Although hemp is related to marijuana, (both being cannabis plants), it is virtually void of tetrahydrocannabinol, the ingredient that gives the high in marijuana. Ledford is growing a cannabis plant for the production of industrial hemp.
Ledford is well aware of the many Uses of Hemp, stating that it has thousands of uses, including cooking additives, dietary supplements, fuel, fabric, insulation, and paper.
