Southern Alberta is known for its potatoes, sugar beets and Taber corn, and now hemp is on the rise. This year there are about 30,000 acres of hemp being grown, a huge increase from last year.
Farming Smarter, Alberta Agriculture, and hemp industry representatives, created a ‘Hemp Crop Walk’ event at the research centre east of Lethbridge. 120 people gathered to learn more about the hemp industry and of the research being conducted at the centre, such as crop rotation and irrigation.
Industrial hemps potential is limitless, as there are many Uses of Hemp such as rope, clothing, paper, and construction materials, to name a few.
