Recent bushfires in Western Australia have been wreaking havoc, causing a lot of damage, and destroying homes and property. One thing the fires have revealed, however, is how hemp can help battle the destruction.
Iggy Van is a business owner in Western Australia’s South West. He produces hempcrete blocks – a unique building material made from hemp hurd and a lime binder. A recent bushfire forced Van to flee, as the fire blazed through his business.
When it was safe to do so, Van returned to the site and found many of his hempcrete blocks still intact.
