In 2013, the Nevada legislature approved laws for medical marijuana. Despite this legalization, the plant continues to be a debate amongst legislature lawmakers.
Lawmakers will take a look at Nevada’s medical marijuana law and how it relates to the recreational use of marijuana, the issues of DUIs, and of drug testing for workers.
On the subject of Hemp vs. Marijuana, there will be an additional bill with regards to legalizing the cultivation of hemp. Hemp is a cannabis species like marijuana, but it contains less than 1 percent of THC, the ingredient that gets you high. Hemp is a highly beneficial plant for farming however. Compared to growing alfalfa, Nevada’s favourite crop, it takes about half the amount of water to grow. Plus, it has many uses, such as clothing, oils, nutritional foods and supplements, ropes, and biofuels.
