Due to the 2018 farm bill, which legalized industrial hemp cultivation, states now have the opportunity to build hemp industries as part of their local economy.
Although hemp and marijuana are biologically related, industrial hemp is a different strain that lacks the psychoactive effects of its cousin. Where marijuana has tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) levels of 10 and 20 percent, industrial hemp contains less than 0.3 percent.
