This weekend marks Colorado’s inaugural Hemp Festival. There will be information about industrial hemp and also about Hemp vs. Marijuana.
The main difference between hemp and marijuana is that industrial hemp has low THC levels, whereas marijuana is specifically cultivated to enhance the levels of THC for recreational psychoactive use. Marijuana contains between 5-10% THC, vs. industrial hemp’s 0.3% – 1.5% THC.
In Colorado it is now legal to grow industrial hemp with a THC level of less than 0.3%. This year two acres of hemp were planted at the Colorado Hemp Project site located on Jim Brammer’s farm in Sterling, making it one of the first legal hemp farms in the U.S.
