In a battle that is essentially about Hemp vs. Marijuana, Australian hemp farmers, retailers, and associations are standing up against the federal government’s decision to reverse an established hemp law.
Last year’s decision by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to eliminate an exemption that allows industrial hemp to be used for cosmetics and pet food products, is a major setback for Australia’s industrial hemp industry.
The federal government stated that the exemption did not comply with the United Nation’s drug control agreements.
A group of hemp growers and hemp associations, including the Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance, Eve Hemp Oil, and OzHemp, have joined forces to fight the federal health department in court.
