The topic of Hemp vs. Marijuana is up for debate among Arizona senators. They vary in opinion about the legalization of industrial hemp cultivation in the state.
A Republican senator from Lake Havasu City is advocating for hemp to become a legal crop in the state of Arizona. He recognises the economic potential of hemp and is trying to bring Arizona up to speed with the industry.
Sen. Sonny Borelli is in full support of a bill that would be the foundation for an industrial hemp industry in Arizona.
The bill would change the laws of hemp, making it a legal crop to grow and sell. The Arizona agricultural department would be responsible for regulating the industry, including licensing for farmers.
Unfortunately not all the senators are on board with it. Four senators voted against the bill, for fear of causing confusion for law enforcement officers.
