Hemp Politics in Virginia are focusing on the future. Gov. Ralph Northam, together with the General Assembly, legalized the cultivation and processing of industrial hemp.
Appalachian Biomass Processing is investing almost $900,000 into Virginia’s hemp industry. This will bring new jobs to the state and open up hemp-growing opportunities for farmers. The company has promised to buy a minimum 6,000 tons of hemp from Virginia farmers over the next three years. This amounts to an investment of over $1 million.
Northam says he is totally focused on all possible avenues to ensuring the future health of Virginia’s economy. He sees hemp as a golden opportunity for job creation and commercial growth.
