U.S. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell put Hemp Politics at the forefront with the U.S. farm bill and his motion to legalise hemp.
More specifically, McConnell wants hemp removed from the Controlled Substances Act. Hemp is marijuana’s non-intoxicating cousin, and with THC levels of 0.3 percent or less, hemp really doesn’t belong on the list of controlled substances.
Legalising hemp could bring a tremendous windfall for the U.S.
There are thousands of uses of industrial hemp, and cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of them. CBD is a extracted from the cannabis plant and is known to have medicinal qualities. It is commonly used as treatment for chronic pain and anxiety.
If the U.S. were to legalise hemp, they could produce CBD and cash in on an industry that has lucrative potential.
