The U.S. Congress is showing support states that have legal medical marijuana and hemp farming.
Changes have been made to the recently released federal spending bill which will prevent the Department of Justice from targeting medical marijuana programs, and the DEA from interfering in legal hemp cultivation projects. The funds are no longer going to be available to them.
This amendment is making history in U.S. Hemp Politics. The federal government hasn’t eased up on marijuana prohibition laws like this in decades – they are showing support for the states that have approved marijuana as a beneficial medicine.
The spending bill also shows support for industrial hemp cultivation. Hemp, marijuana’s cousin, contains only a fraction of THC. The farm bill that President Obama introduced in February of this year, provides legalization for hemp cultivation in the states that approve it.
