This week in U.S. Hemp Politics, lawmakers in South Carolina have removed limitations on the permitted number of hemp growers.
Previously, the state granted a limited amount of hemp permits, but last week the S.C. House approved a bill that lifted the restriction. Now the opportunity of cultivating hemp is open to all farmers.
The Senate still needs to approve the bill before the law change is official, but the hope in state government is that S.C. farmers will soon be able to cash in on this versatile crop.
