Hemp Politics in New York State move ahead, as the state’s Department of Health proposes new regulations for hemp-derived CBD products.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo made an announcement about the New York State Department of Health’s proposed regulations for the production and sale of hemp products. The department is developing a cannabinoid hemp program, which will establish quality control standards for hemp-derived CBD products. The program is intended to protect both farmers and buyers.
In 2015, Cuomo introduced a hemp pilot program in New York State, aiding farming communities and bringing growth to the the local economy. The program’s success has made New York one of the most prosperous in hemp production.
