In U.S. Hemp Politics, federal legalisation is on the horizon, and hemp supporters are predicting that hemp will become a mainstream crop.
On Friday, Senator Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., defined this legislation as bringing back hemp as a standard crop which, due to its association with marijuana, has been illegal to grow for many years.
Hemp is a variety of the cannabis plant, but it has low or untraceable amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, the psychoactive compound that gives marijuana users a high.
