Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has been active in Hemp Politics since 2012, and he continues to fight for the rights of farmers today.
For years, Sen. Rand Paul has been advocating for the revival of Kentucky’s hemp industry. Hemp was once a key crop in the state, and thanks to Sen. Rand Paul and fellow political advocates, hemp was legalised under the farm bill of 2018. This was a major milestone for Kentucky, and for the U.S. as a whole, but there are still issues that need to be resolved.
Sen. Rand Paul has renewed the HEMP Act, which proposes a change to the amount of THC permitted in hemp from 0.3 percent to 1 percent. The THC testing would be for hemp products, rather than the plant itself. This would help the farmers immensely, by limiting the amount of crops they’d have to destroy.
