Last week, in Hemp Politics, the Senate Agriculture Affairs committee of Idaho voted to send a bill for legalization of industrial hemp.
The bill will modify the state’s list of controlled substances to make a distinction between hemp and marijuana. The most significant difference between them, is that hemp contains no more than 0.3 percent THC, the element that gives the marijuana high. If passed, the bill will allow for transporting, processing and production of hemp products in the state, by license holders, as well as transportation of hemp products in and out of the state.
“House Bill 126 is a farming, processing, trucking and research bill,” said Braden Jensen, lobbyist for the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation. It was passed unanimously by the committee, along with a suggestion that the bill be passed by the full Senate.
