A general election is fast approaching in New Zealand, and Hemp Politics are playing a role for the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party.
Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party candidate Maki Herbert, says hemp could help the housing crisis in Northland, while creating jobs as well. At this time, only the seeds of the hemp plant are legal. If the whole plant could be harvested, products such as hemp building materials could be produced. This would be a major boost to the economy.
Concrete made from hemp has many benefits. Its thermal mass assists temperature control in low and high temperatures, and it’s fireproof, cost effective, and environmentally-friendly. Herbert, unimpressed with the current job creation situation, would like factories to be able to process hemp into a variety of products.
