In U.S. Hemp Politics, farmers are eager to get started with growing hemp, but the government shutdown has put them on hold.
Although President Trump approved the Farm Bill last month, shutting down the government is making it impossible for farmers to move forward. The Farm Bill included a provision to legalize hemp growing and for hemp to finally be removed from the list of Controlled Substances.
There is a lot of potential for Iowa farmers to capitalize on hemp cultivation. However, as long as the government is closed for business, they won’t be able to complete the necessary forms.
