In U.S. Hemp Politics, the state of Florida finally gets federal approval for its hemp program. Farmers are now invited to apply for licensing to grow hemp.
Following the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalised hemp as an agricultural commodity, Florida lawmakers passed legislation last year to implement a hemp program in the state. Federal approval was needed for them to finalise the program.
Now that federal officials have given the program their stamp of approval, Florida looks forward to becoming one of the leaders in hemp cultivation in the country. State Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, said “We are thrilled that Florida’s hemp industry officially begins now.”
