Hemp Politics is a hot topic among Australia’s legislators. Many political members can see that legalizing hemp can greatly benefit the agriculture industry in Australia, especially the North Coast region.
To date, only 30 industrial hemp licences have been issued in the state of New South Wales, and only 19 farmers are actually growing. Most of these farmers are on the North Coast.
Although hemp cultivation is legal in 45 localities across NSW, very little farming is taking place, especially when compared to the crop sizes internationally. The lack of popularity for hemp farming is due to the ban on hemp seed consumption in both Australia and New Zealand.
