Farmers in South Australia are doing their best to raise awareness about Hemp Nutrition and its health benefits, but it’s a struggle.
They’re eager to join the flourishing international hemp food industry, which is forecast to be a $9 billion industry by 2027.
When hemp as food was legalised in Australia in 2017, it ended a ban that had existed for 80 years. There were high hopes that this new hemp industry would be worth $3 million within a few years, but farmers are not finding the fast success that was predicted.
Farmers are asking for help to raise awareness about the benefits of hemp seeds. This is not only for the good of the hemp farmers, but for consumers as well. Hemp seeds are a highly nutritious food that would bring a boost of health to anyone’s pantry. They are 33% digestible pure protein, are rich in vitamin E, magnesium, as well as Omega-3 and Omega-6 – the essential fatty acids doctors recommend. They have a delicious nutty flavour and make a great addition to any and every meal.
In order for hemp to become a thriving industry in Australia, these tasty little super seeds need a serious boost of awareness.
