In Australia, hemp is gaining distinction from its illicit cousin, as an awareness and appreciation for Hemp Nutrition grows.
Hemp has been lumped in with its controversial cousin for decades, but as hemp food products become more common on store shelves, the difference between them is becoming clearer.
Since 2017 when the Australian Government legalized hemp as food, an understanding of the plant’s nutritional qualities has gradually increased. Hemp can be found in products from hemp burger patties to nut bars, beer and kombucha. The popularity of hemp is expanding, especially with the growing interest in plant-based proteins.
Another milestone was made this week, with Tasmania’s Kindred Organics farm. Their Certified Organic hemp won the Best New Product trophy in the delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards.
