New laws in Wisconsin put Hemp in the News this week, as farmers are now able to apply for a license to grow industrial hemp. The ban against growing hemp was removed by state lawmakers last fall.
As of last Friday, Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection are collecting license applications for the state’s first growing season.
The hemp pilot program is proving to be popular among farmers, as many have already signed up.
In generous support of this new industry, the state of Wisconsin is setting no boundaries for the number of licenses given, or the size of the plots.
