The decision by two Virginia senators to support new legislation for industrial hemp commercialisation, has Hemp in the News this week.
Democratic Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner declared their new positions as co-sponsors to the Hemp Farming Act of 2018. The most important role of this bill is to remove hemp from the list of Schedule I controlled substances, thus allowing hemp to be an unrestricted crop between the states.
Current hemp laws are hindering the progress of what could be a booming industry, bringing great economic benefits to the state of Virginia and the U.S. as a whole. The Hemp Farming Act will broaden opportunities for farmers, manufactures, and businesses alike.
