Probably the biggest event to put Hemp in the News this year, is the legalisation of hemp in the U.S.
Last week, the 2018 Farm Bill was approved by both the U.S. House and the Senate, removing hemp from the federal list of controlled substances. Hemp is now a legal agricultural crop in the U.S.
Hemp farmers will no longer be hindered by the bewildering rules and regulations that have been in place up until now. The stigma against hemp has been lifted, and farmers will now have access to crop insurance and will no longer have issues with purchasing and transporting seeds.
The farm bill has opened up the doors of opportunity for farmers in the U.S. It’s bound to have a ripple effect on the hemp industry worldwide.
