The announcement of a plan for a national cannabis industry by the government of South Africa, has Hemp in the News.
The plan of action by South Africa’s government, could provide a major boost of employment and entice investment from other countries. Their goal is to create an almost two billion dollar cannabis industry that could create thousands of jobs, diversify the economy and eliminate poverty.
Over the course of two years, the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development developed a plan of action to advance the nation’s cannabis industry through large-scale manufacturing. They looked to leading cannabis producers such as the U.S., Canada, Mexico and China, to gain knowledge and insight into successful industrialization of the plant.
