Nevada lawmakers have put Hemp in the News with their vote in favour of hemp cultivation. The bill, which will legalize the growing of hemp for research purposes, has been passed on to the Governor for final approval.
Colleges, universities, and the state Department of Agriculture will be able to conduct research for hemp cultivation. Once the bill is approved and the new laws are in place, hemp cultivation can begin, which will likely be in January 2016.
Although hemp products are legal in the United States, growing hemp is not, so it needs to be imported from other countries. There are currently over 30 countries growing hemp today, and with the Farm Bill that was passed in the United States last year, they may one day be able to grow their own.
