Lebanon’s parliament put Hemp in the News this week, with talk of industrial hemp legalisation.
Lebanese Forces member of parliament, Antoine Habchi, has proposed a modification to the country’s drug regulations, to allow Lebanese farmers to cultivate industrial hemp.
The parliament speaker, Nabih Berri, announced that he is looking into this possibility and considering the formation of a specialised team to oversee cannabis production.
Lebanon is also exploring the legalisation of cannabis for medicinal use.
Establishing and regulating a legal industrial hemp industry in Lebanon would give farmers, and the economy, a much-needed boost.
