A Jersey seed company has Hemp in the News with its initiative to certify its seeds and share them with local farmers.
Jersey Hemp is looking to expand their company, while keeping it local. They hope to create a partnership with Island farmers to expand the island’s hemp industry. The company’s first initiative is to have their seeds certified in order to supply them to local farmers.
Alisia Ratliff, chief scientific officer for Jersey Hemp, said they’d like to create a co-op relationship with farmers. They would provide seeds to farmers and then buy back their harvest for processing and manufacturing into their products.
It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement, as farmers can get seeds locally, and Jersey Hemp can control their product from seed to finished product.
