Having passed legislation in S.C., finding someone to grow the crop is becoming a problem, putting Hemp in the News once again.
Applications for licenses opened in South Carolina on August 1st, but there is yet to be one person willing to take the gamble, according to state officials.
Much of the blame has been put on regulations and unfamiliarity with the crop and its markets. Another problem still seems to be the stigma that remains between hemp and marijuana. Many people still believe that, because they look so much alike, they are the same, and farmers also worry about the attitudes of people when they see the crop growing on their farms.
There are, of course, other teething troubles, and this is holding back many, who in the not too distant past, were fighting to make it legal.
