The University of Honolulu brings Hemp in the News. UH is already harvesting their first hemp crop, a mere ten weeks after planting.
Not only do the plants have a fast turnaround from planting to harvest, they resist drought and weeds, and they don’t require pesticides or fertilizer either.
Advocates and some lawmakers recognize the economic potential of this crop. Sen. Mike Gabbard says it “could be an amazing boom for our farmers and our economy.”
