Colorado’s hemp seed trials put Hemp in the News. The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) released the news that three varieties of hemp seed have passed the statewide THC validation and observation trial.
This means there are now three types of hemp seed that qualify for the Colorado Seed Growers Association to produce “CDA Approved Certified Seed.”
This year, Colorado established the country’s first certified hemp seed program, which tested the cultivation of different hemp varieties across the state, focusing on the growing success within different regions.
This seed certification is significant progress for the hemp industry. Farmers now have access to reliable, pure, quality seeds that are guaranteed to be below 0.3 percent THC, one of the industrial hemp requirements.
The three seed varieties that passed the test and received certification are Eletta Campana, Fibranova and Helena.
