The 2018 Farm Bill in the U.S. has Hemp in the News once again, as the voting deadline grows closer.
The vote could be at the beginning of next week and, if approved, will legalise hemp cultivation at the federal level across the U.S. The result could be a massive boom in an industry that has been somewhat dormant up until now. Hemp cultivation has been mostly limited to hemp trials, growing hemp for research purposes only.
The farm bill has been in the works for some time now. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky, has been at the helm of getting hemp legalised once and for all.
Some predict that hemp legalisation could generate an estimated $20 billion a year for the U.S. by 2022.
