This week marks the 8th Annual Hemp History Week in the U.S., putting Hemp in the News with daily news stories. Hemp History Week has given a local hemp farmer the farmer of the year award, and she’s the first female to ever receive it.
Margaret MacKenzie works at Salt Creek Ranch, and in response to being the first female to win the award she said she has many amazing mentors and that she is certainly not the first female hemp farmer.
In April 2017 there were 31 states that had legalised hemp farming and production, including Colorado. Hemp advocates and farmers alike would like to see hemp legalisation happen at the federal level, so that all farmers across the country can have access to the crop.
