The rocky U.S.-China relations and recent hurricane disaster have some farmers looking to hemp for economic recovery. State law makers are in the final stages of preparing new hemp regulations that will allow farmers to become licensed growers.
The trade war with China has some farmers paying a quarter of their export profits in tariffs. The 2018 hurricane also caused much hardship for Georgian farmers.
The Georgia Hemp Farming Act, which will legalize hemp cultivation, will provide much-needed opportunities for farmers to become profitable again.
