The arrival of the first ‘HempTrain’ in the U.S. has Hemp in the News this week. The HempTrain is a hemp processor from Canada that can process massive amounts of hemp at once.
The owner of this new piece of equipment is Groff North America of York County. The processor weighs 32,000 pounds, occupies 20 by 50 feet, and takes at least two weeks to install. It has the ability to process almost 2,000 pounds of hemp an hour.
Groff North America owner, Steve Groff, is excited about hemp’s potential and its sustainability. There are thousands of uses of hemp, from textiles and bioplastics to building materials and beauty products. The beauty of the HempTrain, is that it processes the whole plant, so nothing is wasted.
