A Canadian company’s hemp-based products put Hemp in the News this week. Hempearth is developing hemp surfboards and planes. Hemp is a species of the Cannabis sativa plant, but unlike marijuana it is non-psychoactive and has many other uses. Hemp’s strength and sustainability make it a resourceful plant that is used for a variety of industrial purposes.
Hempearth’s owner, Derek Kesek, is a man of many talents, from restaurant owner to internet marketer. His latest entrepreneurial endeavor is to develop the world’s first hemp airplane, its own hemp biofuel, and hemp surfboards.
The company is based in Waterloo, Ontario, but is currently in Costa Rica, working to develop the hemp biofuel. The hemp surfboards are due to be launched in Costa Rica soon.
