Hemp in the News in Tasmania – with high unemployment rates, Tasmanian councils are keen to reintroduce hemp as a viable crop for farmers. Due to regulations, farmers have lost out on years of opportunities to grow hemp for fibre. 
The main industries of Tasmania, forestry and mining, have recently taken a hit, and it has had a rippling effect on other industries and businesses.
Councils are looking to medicinal and industrial hemp as potential industries of value.
