A hemp farmer in Harleyville, South Carolina, had an unlucky brush with weather and the law, which put Hemp in the News this week.
His bad luck began in September with Hurricane Dorian smashing his farm and damaging his hemp crop. He suffered huge financial loss as a result. In addition, he grew hemp on an undesignated field, due to water issues. Upon contacting the state agriculture department he received confirmation that use of this field was okay.
Within days, the farmer, John Trenton Pendarvis, was arrested for illegal hemp cultivation.
