Hemp History shows that the Denisovans, who inhabited the Tibetan Plateau 160,000 years ago, were the first to reap the benefits of hemp.
Some strict followers of the Paleo Diet don’t believe that hemp belongs there. Contrary to their belief, history shows us that the plant dates back millions of years. Hemps usage for food, medicine and fibre, goes back tens of thousands of years.
The Paleo Diet is based on foods that would have been available for human consumption more than two million years ago. These foods would have included fruit and vegetables, meat and nuts. Dairy and processed foods were, of course, not available. It’s hard to imagine that hemp seeds would not have been part of the human diet during this Paleolithic Age.
Hemp seeds are loaded with nutrients and minerals and are high in protein. They are also a balanced source of Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids. These “superseeds” make an excellent addition to the Paleo Diet, or any diet for that matter. No other plant offers such a rich source of digestible protein and the essential fatty acids necessary for healthy human life.
