We need to look at Hemp History to understand how amazing this plant truly is, where it comes from, and how CBD has become so well-known.
Did you know that there is nowhere in the world that some form of hemp has not been found? It dates back almost 10,000 years. The first recorded finding of hemp goes back to 8,000 BCE in Taiwan, where it was found in pottery. Many Asian civilizations were using hemp back then. So much so, in fact, that China actually once called itself “the land of mulberry and hemp.”
Moving forward, hemp was found in India between 2000 and 800 BCE. According to ancient Hindu texts it was known as one of the five sacred plants.
Moving further ahead it was found in Europe and Scandinavia where it had a variety of uses, such as rope, materials and food. Dating back to 140-87 BCE in China, the oldest piece of paper was found in the tombs close to Xian. The paper was made from hemp fibres and was found in a tomb..
The use of hemp carried on into the new AD era. In France, in 570 AD, a Queen was buried in clothing made from hemp fibre.
