An American flag made Hemp History this week. In Charlottesville, Virginia, an American flag made of hemp was hoisted at the downtown mall by a group of hemp supporters. The group also announced that the flag would be given to fellow hemp advocate Willie Nelson, who had a performance that same day.
As Mike Bowman, chair of the National Hemp Association, raised the hemp flag, he announced that they are trying stop the ridiculous prohibition of hemp, stating that so far 30 states have changed their laws to allow industrial hemp farming.
Virginia is one of the 30 states that now permits Virginians to grow industrial hemp. One of Virginia’s hemp farmers, Mike Lewis, grew the hemp used to produce the flag.
