Cannabidiol (CBD) oil could well be the greatest example of Hemp Health Benefits and Texas intends to jeopardise its sales.
The use of CBD oil as medicine became legal in Texas a few years back, but now the Department of Public Safety plans to hike up business fees, which will make it much more difficult for CBD businesses to market their products.
CBD oil is extracted from hemp, a non-psychoactive form of cannabis. In Texas it is a legal form of medicine but only for people diagnosed with severe incurable forms of epilepsy.
The DPS wants to increase the business fees exponentially, from $6,000 to $1.3 million in year one, and $975,000 for the years following. The increased fees will fund both the security needed at each site and the implementation of a business registry.
Republican Representative Stephanie Klick of Fort Worth, a key player in the oil’s legalisation, feels it is a tremendous increase.
