Because of the many Hemp Health Benefits, hemp-based food products are growing in popularity, whether its cereals, protein powder or milk.
Hemp is well-established as a superfood. Its high protein content makes hemp the perfect animal protein replacement. It contains all the essential amino acids, is an excellent source of healthy fats and has more essential fatty acids than any other nut, seed or oil. Americans have proven to be the world’s biggest consumers of hemp.
Unfortunately, the cultivation of hemp has been prohibited in the U.S. for the past 80 years, due to its similarity with marijuana. This means that the U.S. has to import hemp from other countries, mostly from China, while farmers across the nation are experiencing economic difficulties.
All this is about to change, however, with the introduction of the 2014 Farm Bill which permits agriculture departments and universities to set up research programs to study the cultivation and benefits of hemp.
